Eco-Friendly Cage Technology
HDPE cages The project validates innovative floating high-density polyethylene fish cage technology (HDPE- FCT) to replace current metallic cages that are prone to erosion and metallic pollution. The metallic particles when ingested through feeds could accumulate in the body of the fish through biomagnification processes. The HDPE cages cannot rust and do not need extra buoyancy materials. The HDPE-FCT are widely used globally, because of the versatility of the materials used, the relative simplicity in the performance compared to conventional pond-based systems, and the comparatively longer durability. These cages have capacity to increase fish production and improve socio-economic status of the fish farmers.
